Course Overview

This course is designed to provide learners with a clear understanding of radicalisation, the UK’s prevention strategy, and the role that individuals and organisations play in identifying and responding to potential risks. Radicalisation can occur in any community and may involve a range of extreme ideologies, including religious, political, and single-issue extremism.

By the end of the course, learners will:

Understand what radicalisation is and how it can occur in different contexts.
Be familiar with the aims and principles of the UK’s Prevent strategy.
Recognise different forms of extremist ideology, including religious, political, and single-issue extremism.
Identify early warning signs and risk factors related to radicalisation.
Know how to respond appropriately, including reporting concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.

Learning Outcomes

This can include a variety of tasks, such as:

Define radicalisation and explain the related concepts of extremism, terrorism, and vulnerability.
Summarise the objectives of the UK Prevent strategy and its legal basis.
Identify the main risk factors and vulnerabilities that may make individuals more susceptible to radicalisation.
Recognise common signs and indicators of radicalisation in both offline and online contexts.
Respond appropriately to concerns, including following internal reporting procedures and safeguarding principles.
Explain the purpose and operation of the Channel programme.
Understand how to apply Prevent principles within your own role to promote inclusion and resilience.

Assessment

The online assessment is taken on completion of the training material. You will be asked 20 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 100%. The answers are marked automatically so you will instantly know whether you have passed. If you don’t pass don’t worry! You can take the test as many times as you need with no extra charge.
