Overview

The Level 2 The Early Years Practitioner (QUALIFI) Diploma provides a foundation for students in the principles and practices of early years care and training. Qualification focuses on understanding infants' and young children needs in order to support their development, and to promote safe, healthy and stimulating learning environments. Early Years Practitioners play a key role in children's early experiences. From support for daily care routines to promotion of communication, physical development, social interaction and learning through games, practitioners help create an environment in which children can feel safe and have confidence, and build core life skills. In this program students explore the roles and responsibilities of Early Years Practitioner, protecting and protecting children, health and safety, equality and diversity, inclusive practice, child development and positive behaviour.

They also get to know planning activities, promote purposeful play, support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and work in partnership with parents, carers, colleagues, and other professionals. Qualification is to be based on children's knowledge, from the birth to the age of seven, and applied learning will be focusing on early years especially between 0 and 5. This is designed so that help learners can provide an understanding that the entry-level functions in early years settings will be performed along with relevant practical experience. Successful completion may assist in access to work for Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, or further qualification studies for Level 3 as part of early years. Actual opportunities for employment depend on the role, employer requirements, relevant practical experience and all relevant regulatory requirements.
